A kinda-Old World Run...

If the pre-BC instances were Old World during BC.....are the BC instances now considered Old World as well? Just curious.

After getting halfway to 74, my tanking services were called away to tank Botanica. Art needed it on Ruhtra, and Nym needed the second half of the Arc key himself, so he was happy to go. We 4 manned the instance, with Edy and Quim rounding out our group. We breezed through it in around an hour and a half, IIRC. No tanking challenges to speak of.

I won't be available for a large portion of the day tommorrow, so tonight I intend on trying to do Nexus again. Hopefully I'll be 74 and we'll have some more levels in the group(two 70's doing a 71-73 instance, as we had that night, may have hurt a few times. Not sure though).

I'm anxious to get Shield of Righteousness at level 75. It essentially a warrior's Shield Bash. Not a whole lot of damage, but its holy damage, spell interrupt, and most important, a large amount of threat. I'll have to figure out where to work it into my rotations. I have a great timing down with my Holy Shield, Consecrate, Hammer of the Righteous, and Judgements. Depending on the cooldown hopefully it fits in there well and raises my threat even more. Anything to hold aggro :)

The Nexus

So after dinging level 73 last night(which, by the way, the new spells palis can train so far suck. Really suck. Nothing worth a shit new), buying new spells, and smithing a new shield, the Nexus came calling.

Ruh, Edy, Quim, and one of our new members(a level 70 warrior, I apologize for your name escaping me at the moment) gave it a go. Neither of the first two fights were difficult. We wiped o the first from a lack of basic info. He went down easily as a tank and spank on the second try. Second boss, a void-type monster, went down easily since we knew the strategy for the fight. We only got one shot at the third boss, the Grand Magus, but I'm sure we'll get him down today or this weekend. The fight is difficult if you don't use crowd control, but we should be able to handle him and then the final boss after that. The group worked well together quickly, but then again Art, Lillie, and I have run alot together, and I have the utmost faith they'll always do their jobs and do them well.

Lillie made a comment about how hard it is to get aggro off me these days, and I took that as a good compliment. I several times momentarily gave up on tanking, cause I just couldn't seem to get the techniques and rotations down properly. Now with over a year tanking on Nym, I'm comfortable with him in any situation, and feel like I do my job well. Good guildies helping out doesn't hurt either.

So hopefully we'll get the Nexus knocked out again and move along towards Azul-Nerub and Drek'tharon Keep. I'm not happy with the plate gear coming out of quests, and the instance drops aren't exciting, but I've seen what's coming up later and can't wait to get ahold of it.

Why are you reading this?

And I don't have an answer for you.

But since you're obviously still reading, I'll let you know I'm doing this blog to document my time playing WoW, specifically my time as a member of MAS(Mass Affluent Slayers) on the Daggerspine server(PvP, cause carebears aren't real gamers). I have been playing WoW for the better part of 2 and a half years, since May of 2006. I've been on Daggerspine with my current toons since January of 2008. Nymeros, my 72 BE prot pali, is my main and has had much time and devotion put into him, but I also love Baratheon, my 70 Orc elemental shaman, and Celebrimbor, my 58 BE Unholy Death Knight.

As for me in real life, I have my bachelor's in history and political science from the University of Mississippi-Oxford. I am the trade manager of the Barnes and Noble bookstore on campus, and I am happily married to my wife, Sarah.

I plan on posting daily, simply detailing any interesting events I happened to see or partake in during my time on WoW. I'll share my insights as your run-of-the-mill tank playing through WotLK and learning what I can. I would love to one day raid and tank Arthas' and put my sword right through him, but there's a long way until that point and this blog will chronicle that journey.

So that's enough for now. I want to thank the guys from MAS....our fearless leader Ruhtra, his boss/wife Eus, Howe, Ray, Stig, Necro, and especially my arachnopobic counterpart, Edy, for letting me join your guild and being exactly friendly and personable enough to keep me playing when I could have left the game at any second. Wow, this got reeeeeaaaaally sappy really fast. So lame.....
